Lingnan University Peer Learning Facilitation (PLF)

Tutoring Policies:

Cancellation and Late Policy

  • If students need to cancel the day before a scheduled appointment, they have to contact the facilitator to cancel the appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Failure to show up for an appointment WITHOUT cancelling is considered a “no-show.”
  • If students are late for an appointment in more than 10 minutes, they will lose their session to a walk-in or wait-list student.
  • If they miss or are late for more than two scheduled appointments without cancelling at least 24 hours in advance, they will not be allowed to visit the Peer Learning Facilitation Center again during the semester.

Exam Policy

PLFs are not allowed to work with students on take-home exams without the express, written consent of the professor who administered the exam.

Complaints

All complaints/safety/harassment issues will be referred to the TLC director to be handled in accordance with university policy. The director will follow up on all such referrals whether from student or a tutor. A new tutoring assignment will be made if another tutor is available. If there is any other complaint, the TLC Secretary will give the complaining party the opportunity to fill out a complaint form. If the party does not wish to file a formal complaint, s/he is invited to discuss the situation with the appropriate TLC director and Peer Learning Coordinators.
